NESCom Journalism Program to Provide Election Coverage

In the coming week, the NESCom journalism program will provide the community with election coverage in the following ways:

1) A special edition of NESCom Connection will be aired Friday, appearing on campus cable channel 5, to provide pre-election information on the major races (Presidential, Maine U.S. Senate and U.S. House, 5 referendum questions, and the state legislative races for Penobscot County).

2) WHSN-FM (89.3)  is offering pre-election information on those same races and questions throughout this week.

3) The campus online newspaper, The Spectator, will be regularly updated with election coverage information. It can be accessed at www.the-spectator.com.

4) On election night, WHSN-FM and campus cable channel 5 will air live updates at 7 p.m., 8 p.m., 9 p.m.,10 p.m.,11 p.m., and 12 p.m. Those same returns will be posted and updated through the course of the evening at www.the-spectator.com.

The students and instructors hope this coverage will be a service to the campus community before and after the voting.  For more information, please contact NESCom Director of Journalism Mark Kelley, Ph.D. at kelleym@nescom.edu.
