A student from the New England School of Communications will receive more than just a grade for this semester’s radio project. Ethan Faulkner’s public service announcement for the Maine CareerCenters’ Job Bank will be distributed to radio stations throughout the state.
“It is great to see a student choose to promote a service that helps people find good jobs,” said Governor Paul R. LePage. “This project will benefit many people who are looking for work but unsure where to start. I thank Ethan for his initiative and effort on behalf of the Department of Labor and our job seekers.”
Faulkner said it was an easy pick in choosing what to focus on.
“I remembered learning how helpful the Job Bank service was when I visited the CareerCenter for the first time,” said the college freshman. Faulkner originally created the public service announcement for Professor Mark Nason’s Advanced Radio Applications class.
The one-minute psa features a woman, played by classmate Hannah Billings, who can’t seem to find a job. Her solution is the online Job Bank at www.mainecareercenter.com .
The Maine Job Bank is an online job posting and job search system helping Mainers to find jobs available throughout the state and allows employers to post jobs at no charge. “It is a service I think is very helpful to anyone who is a jobseeker at any given moment, as it will always point you in the right direction to finding work,” said Faulkner. “I thought that was more than enough reason to make this the PSA project I could be proud of.”
Faulkner is originally from Rochester, Mass. He plans to graduate from NESCOM in 2017.
An mp3 of the PSA is available online at http://www.mainecareercenter.com/audio/index.shtml and distributed to radio stations statewide by the Maine Department of Labor. The mp3 promotes the use of the Maine Job Bank for the benefit of jobseekers and employers. The Maine Job Bank can be accessed at http://www.mainecareercenter.com.
