Auditions for the Tale of the Three Brothers

The New England School of Communications at Husson University is pleased to announce the commencement of pre-production of their new short film entitled, The Endless Ends. The original script, written by NESCom instructor Kris Bridges, is a story of a recovering alcoholic forced to reflect on his past and his decisions to make amends with the family he has severely damaged.

A public casting call is set for Friday, September 12th from 4pm to 6pm and Saturday, September 13th from 10am to 2pm. Both calls will be held in the Black Box Theatre, located at the Gracie Theatre on the Husson University campus in Bangor. The script calls for actors ranging in ages from 18 to 40. The Endless Ends is the third short film produced by the students and faculty of the New England School of Communications. In the spring 2014 semester, production was complete on the Tale of the Three Brothers, based on a story by J.K. Rowling and the Stephen King based short film The Last Rung on the Ladder was finished in 2011.

NESCom To Present Performance Lecture With D.V.S.

On Thursday, September 18th, Husson University’s New England School of Communications will present a performance lecture with Audio Engineer, Producer, DJ and Guitarist D.V.S. “The Modern Producer/DJ; a look at live performance, composition techniques and integration of hardware and software” will examine the role of Producers/DJs as both music composers and performers.

D.V.S. is Derek VanScoten, an accomplished composer, performer and licensed Ableton clinician based out Austin, TX. VanScoten has been releasing solo material since 2009 and has released music under Pretty Lights Music, Electronic Music Magazine, Soulection and more. In addition to studio work, his talents have taken him to numerous festivals as a performer including the Gathering of the Vibes, SXSW, Sonic Bloom and following his appearance at Husson University, will be performing at Tantrum in Bangor,  and Great North fest in Norridgewock, ME. The performance lecture will take place in Kominsky Auditorium on the Husson University Campus starting at 7pm. Admission is free and the public is welcome.
